Markoun is a lightweight, self-hosted, and entirely file-based Markdown editor designed for users who prioritize privacy and simplicity. - Clean UI: Minimal interface with smooth animations and complete core editing features - File-Based Architecture: Works directly on local files — no database, no indexing, fully portable Sign-in: this app keeps its own accounts. Each member signs up or signs in inside the app with an app username and password; the hub remembers each member's session. First account: made when the app is installed (admin) from the variables it reads at start (DEFAULT_ADMIN_PASSWORD), with a password the hub generates; the hub's owner reads it on the app's Access tab. Markoun is the open-source project tropical-algae/markoun (https://github.com/tropical-algae/markoun) by tropical-algae, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit a51a5a1762d3, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
