Self-hosted note-taking app — lightweight, encrypted, deployable in one command. Zero frontend dependencies, end-to-end encryption at rest, built for speed. I spent a long time looking for a simple, self-hosted note-taking application. I tested several, but I was never satisfied: either too advanced, with too many features, or too simplistic, lacking folder management, backups, etc. So I decided to create this application myself, with Claude's help. I'm happy with it, and I hope it will be useful to others. I think its main strengths are its simplicity, its lightweight design, and its note versioning system. Sign-in: this app keeps its own accounts. Each member signs up or signs in inside the app with an app username and password; the hub remembers each member's session. First account: made when the app is installed (admin) from the variables it reads at start (PASSWORD), with a password the hub generates; the hub's owner reads it on the app's Access tab, then sign in at /. NotesMe is the open-source project stban1983/notesme (https://github.com/stban1983/notesme) by stban1983, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit 215a4c1bc001, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

Its address

Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
