About
Koel (also stylized as koel, with a lowercase k) is a free, open-source music streaming solution that turns your personal collection into a sleek, web-based listening experience. Built on Laravel and Vue, it scans your music library and serves it back through a fast, modern interface that works in any browser. Beyond playback, Koel handles playlists, smart playlists, scrobbling, podcasts, radio, Last.fm/Spotify/MusicBrainz integrations, and an AI assistant that responds to natural-language commands. The premium Koel Plus adds multi-user libraries, collaboration, SSO, cloud storage drivers, custom themes, and white-labeling for organizations that want to host their own Spotify-style experience without paying anyone else. Sign-in: this app keeps its own accounts. Each member signs up or signs in inside the app with an app username and password; the hub remembers each member's session. First account: made when the app is installed (admin@koel.dev), with a password the hub generates; the hub's owner reads it on the app's Access tab, then sign in at /. The import did not test signing in (signing in with its first account did not sign in (the page that needs the session, http://koel.localhost:8213/#/home, asks for a password)). koel is the open-source project koel/koel (https://github.com/koel/koel) by koel, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit 9f9ca6bfdf3d, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

Other sites in its pages
Shows pages of these sites in its pages (opens at an address of its own):
You agree to each site on your Personal Cloud, and can remove any or add your own. They keep their own cookies and storage there; the app’s own requests still reach only the hosts it asks for above.
Folders on your Personal Cloud’s computer
- Can read a folder on your Personal Cloud’s computer that you choose: Your music library that Koel scans and streams (~/Music) (music)
You choose each folder on your Personal Cloud, and whether it may only read it (the default) or also change it. It can send what it reads to the internet hosts above.
Personal Cloud tools
- Keep a MySQL database of its own on your Personal Cloud ion.mysql
Notifications
It does not send push notifications.
Storage
Up to 1 GB on your Personal Cloud.
Its address
Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
