A local-first macOS activity tracker with AI-powered classification, a daily commonplace book, and an MCP server for Claude. Everything stays on your machine. No cloud, no telemetry, no accounts. - Captures the frontmost app, window title, and browser URL every 5 seconds. Takes a screenshot every 30 seconds. - Classifies activity into categories (Development, Meetings, Communication, …) using a local Ollama model. - Remembers the people you talked to, the documents you opened, the tickets you touched, the links you read — surfaced as a daily commonplace book. - Talks to Claude via an MCP server, so you can ask "what did I read about X last week?" or "who did I last meet with from Acme?" and get answers grounded in your actual activity. Commonplace is the open-source project bharatrameshwar/commonplace (https://github.com/bharatrameshwar/commonplace) by bharatrameshwar, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit fe4dbc7f0ebf, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

• Can read and change files in a folder on your Personal Cloud’s computer that you choose: Your Commonplace activity database and screenshots (~/.local/share/commonplace) (commonplace-data)

You choose each folder on your Personal Cloud, and whether it may only read it (the default) or also change it. It can send what it reads to the internet hosts above.

Up to 512 MB on your Personal Cloud.

Its address

Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
