About

Bluetooth Neighborhood - Track BLE devices in your area and analyze traffic patterns. This project was inspired by the WhisperPair vulnerability (CVE-2025-36911), which highlighted privacy risks in Bluetooth devices. Thousands of Bluetooth devices surround us at all times: phones, cars, TVs, headphones, hearing aids, delivery vehicles, and more. Bluehood demonstrates how simple it is to passively detect these devices and observe patterns in their presence. Bluehood is the open-source project dannymcc/bluehood (https://github.com/dannymcc/bluehood) by dannymcc, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit 0ba19f9b99e9, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

Age rating

Not rated. Nobody has said who this app is suitable for, so Personal Clouds and the Oikou app treat it as 18+.

What version 0.8.0 may do

Internet

It asks to reach these hosts, and no others:

  • standards-oui.ieee.org
  • api.macvendors.com
  • ntfy.sh

While your Personal Cloud builds it, the build asks to download from:

  • registry.npmjs.org
  • registry.yarnpkg.com
  • pypi.org
  • files.pythonhosted.org
  • github.com
  • codeload.github.com
  • objects.githubusercontent.com
  • dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org
  • deb.debian.org
  • security.debian.org
  • proxy.golang.org
  • index.crates.io
  • static.crates.io
  • standards-oui.ieee.org

Bluetooth

Can find the Bluetooth devices near your Personal Cloud’s computer (names, signal strength), which can tell whose phones and watches are around: Listens for the Bluetooth devices nearby and keeps a record of what it hears: when each is around, how close, and its maker

Asks for the devices’ real addresses.

Asks for BlueZ in its container (Personal Clouds on Linux).

You choose the level on your Personal Cloud, and can give less. Each scan and each new connection needs your approval unless you allow it always, and it names devices by identifiers of its own unless you give it their real addresses.

Personal Cloud tools

None. It uses nothing from your Personal Cloud beyond its own storage.

Notifications

It does not send push notifications.

Storage

Up to 512 MB on your Personal Cloud.

Its address

Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
