About

This repository introduces an extended Remote ID Monitoring Platform developed as part of a bachelor thesis at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, in collaboration with the Cyber Defence Campus. The system enables offline-capable, real-time and replayable monitoring of civilian drone broadcasts via WiFi beacons as required under the ASD-STAN prEN 4709-002 standard. The project builds on the original Remote ID Receiver, adding full ASD-Stan support, multithreaded performance, and a user-friendly offline mapping frontend. As future work remains supporting BLE and WiFi NaN as transport method of the DroneID broadcast. RemoteIDReceiver is the open-source project cyber-defence-campus/RemoteIDReceiver (https://github.com/cyber-defence-campus/RemoteIDReceiver) by cyber-defence-campus, released under MIT. Ion packages it unmodified from commit 8ab30083f74d, adding only a manifest, an icon and a start script.

What version 0.20260930.0 may do

Internet

It asks to reach these hosts, and no others:

  • demotiles.maplibre.org
  • vectortiles.geo.admin.ch
  • tile.googleapis.com

While your Personal Cloud builds it, the build asks to download from:

  • registry.npmjs.org
  • registry.yarnpkg.com
  • pypi.org
  • files.pythonhosted.org
  • github.com
  • codeload.github.com
  • objects.githubusercontent.com
  • dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org
  • deb.debian.org
  • security.debian.org
  • proxy.golang.org
  • index.crates.io
  • static.crates.io

Wi-Fi around your Personal Cloud’s computer

Can hear every Wi-Fi network and device near your Personal Cloud’s computer, with an adapter you choose (receive only; needs a Personal Cloud on Linux): Shows the drones flying near you on a map, from the Remote ID they broadcast over Wi-Fi

Listens on channels 6, 149.

It hears who is around from their devices’ probes and addresses, and anything sent unencrypted; nothing it sends reaches the air. You choose the adapter, whether it may take the one your computer is online through, whether it may tune to channels it did not ask for, and whether each capture needs your approval.

Personal Cloud tools

None. It uses nothing from your Personal Cloud beyond its own storage.

Notifications

It does not send push notifications.

Storage

Up to 512 MB on your Personal Cloud.

Its address

Works best with its own address. A Personal Cloud shared through Cloudflare can give it one; on a private Personal Cloud on Tailscale it opens under your Personal Cloud’s address, where it may not work fully. Private and shared Personal Clouds
